The Western classic El Dorado (1966), directed by Howard Hawks, stars John Wayne as a hired gun, Cole Thornton, who arrives in the town of El Dorado for a job. He declines the offer after learning the ruthless land baron Bart Jason wants to use him against a local rancher. Instead, Cole sides with his old friend, Sheriff J.P. Harrah (Robert Mitchum), who has fallen into alcoholism.

Cole teams up with Mississippi (James Caan), a young but inexperienced gunslinger, to help Harrah regain control. As Jason and his gang escalate their attacks, the small group prepares for a showdown. Despite their disadvantages, they fight to defend the town and restore justice.

Harrah struggles to overcome his drinking problem while facing increasing threats from Jasonβs men. Meanwhile, Cole deals with an old bullet wound that affects his ability to fight. Together, they rely on strategy, courage, and loyalty to stand against overwhelming odds.

In a dramatic final battle, Cole, Harrah, and their allies take on Jasonβs forces, ultimately restoring peace to El Dorado. With justice served, Cole and Mississippi prepare to move on, while Harrah remains as sheriff. El Dorado is a timeless Western, celebrated for its action, humor, and legendary performances.
